Dismal Deepdale Display

Preston came out strong and took and early lead through a corner from the recalled Lews Neal. The ball evaded everyone and came to Whaley who fired home from twenty yards out. Soon after the winger had to depart due to an injury.

Preston had numerous chances to double their lead. Sedgewick placing a header wide and a disinterested Agyemang replacing Mellor given a gilt edged chance on a plate by Gallagher managed to fluff his shot. The Ghanain was awful all afternoon with a poor touch and abysmal finishing.

Preston let Cardiff back in the game with a distinct lack of marking at a corner allowing Roger Johnson to head home freely. Gallagher then through on agoal had a chance to put Preston back in front - six yards out he hit his shot directly at the keepe rwiht the whole goal to aim at.

It was as if Preston did not want to win. Davidson playing at right back then gifted the game away. St Ledger made a bursting run forward playing the ball to Davidson. St Ledger was in acres of space wanting a retunr ball. Instead Davidson played a ludicrous chip forward which Cardiff won easily and the ball played over St Ledger's head. The centre back chased back and got level with Ledley only for the striker's to deflect of St Ledger into the net.

Preston never looked like scoring again. Heads dropped, Gallagher played deeper, Agyemang headless as usual. St Ledger wa slucky to stay on the field after a late rugby tackle and Preston on this home form look to be heading down a division as mistakes were apparent throughout, a lack of interest from the majority and several easy chances missed all spell danger for the Whites.
