There was no friendly return for ex PNE manager Moyes as he sees his team get beat by a Cresswell goal at Deepdale.

The Toffees conceded a sloppy goal after creating many chances against the Whites that could have gave them a comfortable win.

Everton’s first chance came in the early minutes of the game when PNE defender Jackson scuffed a clearance which Radinski got hold of with only ‘keeper Gould to beat. But Radinski had a clear shot and hit it wide of the far post.

PNE striker Fuller, who just came back for the Whites after a serious knee injury, had a great chance for the Whites ten minutes later when Etuhu put the ball through to the Jamaican. He ran into the box only to be upended by two defenders. The crowd screamed for a penalty decision, but the Referee waved play on.

Everton seemed the liveliest of the teams in the first half, PNE failing to get out of their own half. Kevin Campbell had a great chance on 28 minutes when he got the ball back to gaol, and turned to unleash a powerful shot that was saved by Gould.

But the Toffee men’s best chance in the first half had to be when Watson got hold of the ball from six yards. He shot low and hard for Gould to make a reflex save to go low and tip it out for a corner.

The Whites, however came out brightly in the second half when Fuller shot from outside of the box was tipped over the bar from the Everton ‘keeper.

North End took a shock lead to clinch their victory on 49 minutes. Everton made a defensive error from a McKenna corner at the near post, with striker Cresswell to do the easy job of tapping it into the net at the far post.

The home side created the most of the chances in the second half, superb defending by Lucketti and Jackson kept the Everton attack at bay.
