After losing only a handful of league games in the calender year of 2005, Preston entered the New Year with a 3-o victory over Norwich at Carrow Road. this success added to their earlier win in East Anglia with a 4-0 success at Ipswich.

Preston managed to contain the free scoring strikers of Norwich by keeping another clean sheet in what has been an impressive season for the Preston back line. Adam Nowland opened the scoring in the second minute of injury time in the first half. He managed to convert a Graham Alexander cross.

The stand in captain, Alexander put Preston two goals up with his second penalty in successive games. Agyemang once again involved in the build up saw Fleming handball and the ref pointing to the spot.

David Nugent managed to score his first goal in a while to add to his tally with 15 minutes to go. This sealed a solid away performance with the FA Cup to come next weekend before the next league match against Millwall at Deepdale. North End lie in the final play off position a couple of points ahead of their nearest rivals and with a game in hand on most teams.
