Parkin Snatches Late Point

Sheffield Wednesday are most likely going to end up in mid table but made all the running against a lacklustre Preston who lacked any creativity or desire to take the game to their opponents.

It does not matter whether St Ledger, Mawene or any other loan player starts in the centre of defence. The result seems to be the same. Francis Jeffers was left in acres of space six yards out to place home for the visitors.

Wednesday went onto hit the post and force Lonergan into a number of saves keeping the Whites in the game.

Wallace went off injured at half time closely followed by Davies. Preston were then devoid of any ideas when Mellor joined Parkin and Elliot up front with everything going straight up to the big man.

The midfield lacked just that - men in the middle of the field with Mckenna trying to cover space that was left by Carter who put in another below standard performance followed by Nicholson who was well below any sort of decent standard.

A late free kick by Lonergan punted up found Sedgewick on the edge of the box. His volley was blocked but ended up at the feet of Parkin six yards out to poke home.

Preston rely to much on Parkin who looked the only above average player. A lack of creativity means Preston will struggle to win anything like the numbe rof games they need to be in contention at the end of the season.
