Preston managed a second successive home victory thanks to some crucial saves from keeper Carlo Nash who kept his second clean sheet of the season. Patrick Agyemang who had his first start of the season scored the only goal of the game and what a strike it was. Deep into the second half a cross came across and from around 15 yards out Agyemang managed to over head kick the ball past the stranded Albion keeper.

Simpson made one change with Nugent suspended and gyemang taking his place. lbion played on the break with Hartson proving a physical threat along with Kevin Philips for the away side. West Brom looked good going forward but were restricted to shots from outside the box. Hartson came clos eby hitting the bar with a header.

The second half saw the game open up more with Preston forcing the keeper into a save and Nash making a couple of good saves.

gyemang looked to be tripped running onto a through ball but noting was given. He was later given his moment of joy as he smashed home the winner as Preston now move up the table heading towards old boss Billy davies at Derby.
