Preston Find Shooting Boots

North End looked comfortable as Simspon changed his side for the visit of Plymouth. Davidson was suspended and so Mckenna slotted back into midfield with several months absence forgotten. Carter started again on the left with Ormerod and Hawley alloweds to start up front.

Preston started brightly and an early goal calmed any nerves. A flick on put Ormerod through to slot past the keeper for his first of the season in a rare start this season. The hitman could have had another before half time with a flashing shot going wide.

Plymouth attacked on the break creating the odd chance but never forcing Lonergan into any major saves.

Billy Jones went off injured in the first half and with Preston short of defensive cover, Whaley came on to play at right back. He was rarely troubled throughout the match with Plymouth not exploiting Preston's altered back line.

Hawley forced a good save from the visiting keeper in the second half with Whaley also providing good support. Preston got the all important second when a ball came across the box to Carter who scored his third of the season with a left foot shot from just inside the box.

Preston could not add to their tally but kept another home clean sheet to boost them up the table. The next game will be tough as Simpson looks to turn round Preston's away form. Mawene will be suspended and Jones doubtful with injury so the side will be changed once again.
