Preston Let Lead Slip

Ipswich were still in with a chance of the play offs and came all out for the win whilst Preston kept the ball on the deck and played some good football.

Hart and Trotman started their first games of the season but it was Preston who went down in the first half. Chris Brown looked to have bene fouled but Ipswich went forward producing a great save from Lonergan. From the resulting corner the ball landed at the feet of ex-North Ender, Tommy Miller, who from 25 yards out hit a daisy cutter through many legs past Lonergan.

Chris Brown put Preston on level terms with a shot from distance of his own that was deflected and flashed past the keeper.

Ipswich came forward in the second half but it was Preston who took the lead with a close range Neil Mellor left footer. Preston couldn't hang onto the lead as Ipswich scored with a late equaliser.

Irvine now has something to build on as they go to Ashton Gate next Sunday knowing Bristol City are destined for the play offs whilst Preston look forward to what could be an exciting next season.
