Preston won this match virtue of a set piece which saw Carter cross in for St Ledger to head home for his first of the season.

Preston had opportunities to add to their lead with Brown put clear through but failing to capitalise. Whaley also fired a shot at the keeper and St ledger headed a free header over in the second half.

Cogventry threatened little with Lonergan forced to make one good save and the game became bitty late on in the second half but Preston managed to hold on for the win.

Due to other results Preston now find themselves outside of the relegation zone thanks to narrow margins but they will be looking to pull furthe rup the table over the next few games.
