Preston Pressure Provides Only An Opening Point

Preston came out of the blocks quickly having lots of early pressure as well as finishing the game strongly. The fans were generally happy with a decent performance all round with just the final third letting Preston down.

Mellor was declared fit up front with Ormerod whilst Carter was thrown straight in alongside fellow dubutant Nicholls in midfield. Carter looked assured showing a lot of good touches with Nicholls coming the closest to scoring hitting the bar in the second half.

Simpson is trying to add a striker to his squad before the deadline but for a first day day Mellor and Ormerod were lively whilst working hard. They were supplied well from out wide and also through Carter who looked assured in his first match.

The game early in the second half looked to be going out of control somewhat with tackles flying in after a tame first half but Henderson was untroubled in the Preston goal. Norwich only threatened with long balls in the box aimed at Dion Dublin.

All in all Preston have something positive to build on with the midfield being a plus point. A Cup game against Morecambe is to be followed by a tricky away trip to West Brom and the football will now come thick and fast.
