Managerless duo share spoils

Rochdale made it two points from as many games under caretaker manager Chris Beech as his side shared a 1-1 draw with Preston at Spotland

The hosts suffered a setback after a lively opening when on-loan Birmingham forward Jake Jervis marked his debut by handing North End the lead, firing Paul Parry's cross home from close range.

Daniel Bogdanovic, another debutant after joining Rochdale from Blackpool for a month, glanced Joe Widdowson's centre against the crossbar before levelling the game in the 24th minute.

The striker met Nicky Adams' measured cross with a goalbound attempt that was blocked by Lilywhites defender Craig Morgan, but reacted quickly to slot the rebound beneath goalkeeper Thorsten Stuckmann

Jason Kennedy and Jean Louis Akpa Akpro both tested Stuckmann before the interval, while Dale defender Dean Holden had the ball in the net after the break only for his headed attempt to be ruled out for a push in the build up.

Ashley Grimes later saw his neat finish chalked off for Beech's men, but referee Trevor Kettle penalised Bogdanovic for a foul on Stuckmann.
