Sheffield End Pretson Hopes

Preston were always on the back foot against a club who have given Pretson very little in the way of points at Brammal Lane. The home side attacked from the off but Preston managed to keep them at bay for the first half although North End failed to retained the ball.

The home side came out stronger in the second half forcing Lonergan into a good save before Halford broke the deadlock with a header. Irvine made changes and for the final twenty minutes Preston came into the game with Billy Jones having the best chance.

United could have had more as Preston pressed for an equaliser. Lonergan made another save and St Ledger cleared of the line to name but two of the chances that went begging.

Preston have come  along way in the last 18 months with Irvine taking Preston from the bottom of the division to a top six finish. This wa sclearly a step to far and the club must now take stock and add to the squad for next season.
