Preston have fared well at home on a Tuesday evening and today wa sno exception as Preston managed a win and more importantly a clean sheet.

Preston had the majority of the possession but today managed to take the chances that were on offer. It took time to break the deadlock and one or two lapses could have cost them with Hull hitting the post in the first half and Lonergan making a good save in the second period.

The starting eleven was the same as at Wolves with Ormerod being replaced early int he first half by Gallager due to injury. Preston played some neat football and in the second half a good move put Agyemang through on goal to finish past the keeper.

Whaley who is looking like getting back to his best slotted home a cross via a deflection to make it wo before two substitutes combined for the third. Mellor beat his man out right before crossing for Lewis Nela to convert home with his first touch.

Preston deserved the victory playing attractive football and being positive in their play. Irvine will now need to keep the momentum going with a consistent side ahead of a busy Christmas period.
