Preston North End Vs Hull City Match Preview

Npower Championship Friday 12th November

Venue: Deepdale, Preston.

Kick Off: 7:45PM

Referee: Trevor Kettle (click here for referee stats)

After the disappointment of Tuesday night the Lilywhites can take some solace in knowing that they don’t have to wait long to make amends.

Friday sees the visit of Hull City, another side who perhaps aren’t firing on all cylinders currently occupying  the place above Preston in the table.

The Tigers appear toothless at the moment having not picked up a win in their last eight games and have not won away from home all season.

North End, however, are back into the drop zone with a two point deficit, a win on Friday might just see the Lilywhites tread water.

Previous Meetings (Click here for more head-to-head statistics)

Due to Hull’s participation in the top flight of English football for the past two seasons, we have to cast our minds back to the 2007/2008 season to find the last time these two sides met.

That year both teams managed 3-0 wins over their counterparts with the first coming at the KC Stadium almost exactly 3 years ago which, incidentally, lead to the sacking of Paul Simpson.

Dean Windass and Frazer Campbell had Hull 2-0 up after 11 and 21 minutes respectively before Andy Dawson wrapped up the scoring just past the hour mark.

The reverse fixture came less than a month later and was a stark contrast in terms of performance from that at the KC Stadium, second half at least.

All three goals came in the second period and all to players who are no longer at Deepdale.

Patrick Agyemang put North End ahead on the hour mark before Simon Whaley doubled the Lilywhites’ advantage eight minutes later.

Lewis Neal rounded off the result with an effort of his own in the closing minutes.

Team News

Iain Hume is set to return after missing out the Barnsley defeat due to a term in his loan agreement.

For the visitors, Robert Koren is set to return after recovering from a hamstring injury that ruled the midfielder out of the last three games.

John Bostock, however, won’t be able to feature as the on-loan Spurs midfielder is suspended.
