The Big Sky Night Looms

Preston were barely holding onto a play-off place after exiting the FA Cup on Sunday but a mid-week turnaround sees the Whites four points off top with a game in hand on most of the other play-off sides.

The match at Cardiff will show North End's credentials. Cardiff have picked up form recently but were beaten in mid-week and are desperate to hang onto a play off place.

Simpson has rotated the squad and maybe set to do the same. Lonergan will almost certainly start in goal but as for the rest that is anyones guess.

The last two games have seen Wilson and Alexander share the right back slot. Chilvers is likely to continue in the centre along with Soley although st Ledger will be pushing hard for a slot. Matty Hill should stay at left back after recent performances although Davidson is now returning to fitness.

In midfield Pergl and Sedgewick are likely to be fighting to play alongside Mckenna with Whaley and Pugh most likely to fill the wide berths. Nugent will start up front but his partner is proving to be a tricky selection. Ricketts is back from injury but Dichio scored on Tuesday night, Mellor banged three in the reserve match and Agyemang is also back.

Preston seem to be getting key players fit at the right time as they approach the run in. Cardiff is according to the league table Preston's hardest remaining away match although visits to Elland Road, the Ricoh and KC Stadiums will also prove tricky in the run in.
