North End looked the brighter side in the opening exchanges and were rewarded with a goal on 11 minutes. Garner bagged his second in two games showing that his lean spell is over.

The goal came from a corner on the left which was swung in. Some poor marking left Garner free to convert the chance from close range with the striker showing his delight.

Preston did not look out of place against a team that has spent big and was looking to be at the top end of the table when the season started but the problem, as always, is that Preston mainatin a defensive mindset under Grayson.

It appeared that Preston may keep Fulham at bay until late on in the game. The home side were awarded a free kick which Mccormack curled in from outside the box. It was undoubtedly a bit of quality and this should be noted in the fee Fulham paid for the frontman.

Preston managed to keep the home side out for the remainder of the game although substitute Stevie May was injured in injury time. He was seen at Euston Station after the game with a knee brace and crutches in what look slike a serious cruciate ligament injury which could end his season.

North End are just above the drop zone but face a difficult trip away to Burnley at the weekend.
