All Quiet On The Transfer Front

The main movement of the shortened off season saw Josh Ginnelly go out on loan for the season to Hearts in Scotland. I wish the winger luck but it appears things have not been right at Preston.

Alex Neil loves signing wide midfield players. He has an abundance in the squad and it was always going to be tricky for Ginnelly to get a game but after Neil signed the youngster from Walsall he has barely got a look in.

It is true that not every transfer is going to come off but Ginnelly never appeared to be given a chance from the start and his future always seemed to be away from Deepdale.

His departure meant the squad reduced as Preston are now restricted by a new cap of 25 players with exceptions applicable. The club seem to want to offload David Nugent before they look to acquire any new players but at present no one is willing to stump up the frontman's wages.

Any incoming players are likely to be on loan and in the striker department. Ridsdale confirmed one attempt to bring in a player ended in failure when the unamed player signed an extended contract at his club.

North End have been linked with players but as the season starts it seems Preston will kick off with the same squad which failed to make the top six last term.
