Richard Cresswell has reportedly agreed terms to join Leeds United after Preston announced that a fee had been agreed with both the West Yorkshire club and Sheffield United who have been the subject of a bid two weeks ago. The fee for the forward is 1.15 million pounds rising to 1.3 million should Leeds gain promotion to the premier league at the end of the season.

Sheffield United were favorites for his signature on Monday morning after the clubs agreed a fee for the striker, however Leeds came in with a late bid which was also accepted by Preston leaving the player to choose between the two championship rivals, Cresswell agreed terms with Leeds late in the afternoon and the deal is expected to be completed after a routine medical.

Cresswell will become the fourth player from Preston to move to Leeds over the last few seasons and the third in the last ten months joining Sean Gregan, David Healy and Eddie Lewis in the line up.

Time will tell if Billy Davies will want to spend the money on a direct replacement for Cresswell or go with the signings made during the summer, using any investment to bring in a player for the left flank who most supporters believe is an important gap in the current squad.
