Can Preston Do A U-Turn Against The U's

Paul Simpson has a pretyt much clean bill of health save for the long term absence of Paul Mckenna from the midfield.

The goalkeeper and back four are likely to be unchanged unles Simspon takes the view that Mawene is not mentally ready to play after been arrested in midweek with a court hearing looming. Chilvers is the obvious replacement but the big man will be missed.

Jones and a fit again Hill will be pushing the full backs for a starting place but it is on the wings that will cause concern. Whaley has been misfiring for a while now with Pugh also somewhat below par. Sedgewick may well fill in on the right again with Lewis Neal looking for a starting opportunity.

Carter and Nicholls look solid in midfield and their partnership will be allowed to blossom hopefully for many months to come barring injury or suspension.

Up front there is plenty to debate with Mellor looking lively but not finding the net. He has started all three games alongside Ormerod but neither have found the back of the net. Agyemang is back from injury whilst loan signing Carroll and Hawley have looked lively in brief substitute appearances.

Preston need to kick start the campaign before they find themselves struggling in the winter months. There is no reason why this team cannot score goals and hopefully one might just trigger a few more.
