Doyle Delivers Victory

Changes were made after Saturday's first victory in the league. Grayson stuck to 5-3-2 but Maxwell started in goal with Huntington replacing Bailey Wright. Makienok and Hughill started up front whilst Pearson and Pringle played ahead of Welsh in midfield.

The first half was pretty tame with the odd shot here and there but nothing entertaining to talk about. Pringle injured his ankle in a tackle and was taken off with Browne repalcing him in midfield.

Preston picked up the pace in the second half. Doyle came on for Makienok with Robinson adding some pace to the side. The latter appeared to pick up a knock but carried on until the end.

Eveyone knows Doyle is a good League One player after his time at Chesterfield and against opposition of that stature he looks a decent player as he proved against Oldham.

The first goal came as he twisted in the box. The shot was not the most powerful int he world and dribble over the line but it was beyond the keeper to give Preston the lead.

The second came thanks to a mistake from the visiting keeper who raced out to try and clear the ball. He failed with Doyle winning the battle. He centred the ball where Hughill headed home.

North End now head into the draw for the Third Round hoping for a big tie.
