Jackson who arrived on the board thanks to his sponsorship deal with NewReg.com stepped down last season due to work committments. At the time he felt he could not put the effort in that was required to take the club to the Premiership.

Jackson sold his shares in the company friends of PNE which is partly owned by Derek Shaw to the owner of current shirt sponsor Owen Mcghlouglin who is the chief executive of Enterprise PLC.

Jackson who still held his own shares in the club has today said that a deal has been struck with the sone of a wealthy local man who will take control of Jackson's shares. Jackson has also stated that with the shares, the new investor has pledged to give the club £2 million primarily to invest in the squad. This will come as sweet music to the ears of Simpson who already has around £2 million to spend thanks to the sale of David Nugent earlier in the summer.

As a parting comment Jackson urged the other major shareholders; Hemmings, Shaw and Wilkinson to match this £2 million investment to see Preston compete at the top end of the table and challenge for promotion. Derek Shaw immediately dismissed these claims as fantasy and it appears somewhere along the line there has been a rift between the two with it appearing that Jackson feeling Shaw not being ambitious enough at the helm.
