The official line was that United had recalled the striker but even though the Premier League club are having difficulties up front it is unlikely that Keane will make an impact given that United could have recalled Wilson from Brighton who has been scoring.
Keane was average at best throughout the months he was at Preston. He scored two goals whioch is not eneough for a striker at Preston. He did improive towards the end of his time here but it took him four months to put himself in decent positions.
His one game to remember was against his brother when he scored against Burnley to set up Preston's win. From that he had chances against Leeds and Hull in December but that apart his time at Preston was flat.
It is likely that Preston will return to the loan market or a permanent signing for a striker given that they have only three fit strikers. Callum Robinson has been mooted for a potential return after he was returned to Villa from his loan at Bristol City.
