"I have been impressed with David Nugent," Finney told BBC Sport.
"When you think of the money North End paid for him it was an absolute snip.
"Given the promise he has shown I think he is a player who is going to be worthy of the Premiership."
"I am at a loss to understand why other clubs weren't interested. Maybe North End were fortunate in that they made the bid and got him.
"It did not take long to realise he is very promising. I go to all the home games and he has done extremely well.
"He has scored nine goals since arriving and has scored some absolutely cracking ones as well.
"What has impressed me more than anything is his turn of pace, which you need from a centre forward and which we were regularly lacking."
