Alex Neil was photographed outside Deepdale on Monday with Peter Ridsdale which was a strong indication that Neil was to be given the manager's job at Preston.
North End had confirmed over the weekend that candidates were being lined up for interviews early in the week but it would be unusual for any applicant to be interviewed at the ground.
After photographs were released online the odds reduced to 1/8 for Neil to be appointed and the national media are now setting out that his appointment will be imminent.
