PNE get Carrol on loan from Toon

Northend today secured the six month loan of Newcastle hot prospect Andy Carrol. The 18 year old 6ft 4 powerful striker who graduated from the Newcastle academy is held in high regard by Big Sam and is hailed by the fans on Tyneside as a 'young Duncan Ferguson' .

Carrol

He has made substitute appearances in the Premier League, the FA cup and the UEFA cup. Earlier this year, he won the 'Wor Jackie Milburn Trophy', given each year to the rising star of north east football.

Hs first goal for the magpies came on the 29th of July in the 2-0 friendly win over Juventus, with his left foot. After the match Carroll received praise from the worlds greatest keeper, Buffon, who tipped Caroll to have a big future saying:

"Carroll played like what we call in Italy a paintbrush striker," Buffon told the Daily Express. "He was there to add the finishing touch. He played well on his own.

"He will be an asset because he can find the smaller players around him in different ways and has already shown he has great awareness."

Carrol goes straight into the squad for this evening's league cup encounter at Deepdale against Morecambe. Its hoped by lilywhite fans that he can help provide the goals after the whites failed to convert 15 corners in their opening day fixture against Norwich.
