Paul Mckenna celbrated ten years as a first team player at Deepdale by playing in his testimonial match this evening at Deepdale. The midfielder got a terrific reception from both sets of fans and played a prominent role as ever in midfield.

Simpson made a tactical switch and played five in midfield with Sedgwick and Lewis on the wings joining up with Nugent as the lone striker when they could.

There were few clear cut chances throughout the game with Preston going close on a couple of occassions but Lonergan making the only real save of the match in the second half as a replacement for Nash.

Preston looked solid throughout with the only concern being Chilvers who went off early injured. St Ledger came on to make his first appearance and adapted well.

The problem still remains of who is going to support Nugent up front this season as Whalley partnered Dichio in the second half and if this problem can be solved then Preston should be moving in the right direction.

After all that a great night for Paul Mckenna and long may he continue to serve the club.
