Preston Give Scunthorpe A Gift

Ferguson changed his line up with Mayor coming in for the suspended Treacy. The manager certainly has his favourites with Russell starting in midfield in place of Barton and King clearly not fit replaced Parkin up front while Hayes started against his former club.

Scunthorpe took the game to Preston and should have scored in the first five minutes but for a save from Lonergan. They were soon ahead thanks to Dagnall whose shot went in off the post.

The visitors then sat back and Preston had chances - Hayes firing straight at the keeper and King hitting the net from an offside position. In the second half it was Iain Hume who created both Preston goals.

Clearly our defenders cannot defend so it was useful that Morgan and Jones both managed to find the net from Hume corners.

It was all in vein though as O'Connor brought the visitors back level with a well executed direct free kick before the comedy started. he ball was by the corner flag and there was no pressure on Morgan. He turned decided to fire the ball thirty yards across the box. Unfortunately, he failed (somehow) to notice the two Scunthorpe attackers free in the box. Sears inexplicably shot against the post before Woolford fired home.

Preston were awful. Enough said. They won't keep another clean sheet this season unless there is a change of management and at this stage they are embroiled in a relegation battle.
