Preston Promotion Blow Out

Once again sloppy defending and quick thinking by Wolves meant Preston went behind to an early goal. Chilvers looked static in defence as Wolves by-passed the back four to take the lead.

Make no mistake except for Ricketts hitting the bar from a free kick and Alexander hitting the post with a long shot, Preston failed to create anything to threaten a club that hadn't won since New Years Day.

There was no sign of preston's new imports and the same side that beat wEdnesday last week started today although an early injury to Ormerod meant a change to the 4-4-2 formation.

Ricketts was poor and Nugent tried hard but was isolated due to an absolut shambles of a performace in midfield. Mskenna was below par with Whaley looking disinterested. How Sedgewick still gets in the startin eleven is beyond believe and Pugh was poor. If this continues preston may well find themselves in the position we all expected - mid-table.

Wilson was sent off late on as he pulled down the last man but Lonergan inspired no confidence in his back line with Hill the only one playing upto standard.

Preston therefore fell to their second home league defeat and on this performance thorpughly desreved to despite playing a Wolves side who looked anything but play off potential.

Simpson must now take a long hard look at his side as they fall into third place - seven points behind Derby with Birmingham likely to overtake with three games in hand. With five defeats in eleven league games Preston are on anything but promotion form.
