Rare Draw For Preston

Typically North End win or lose this season but today they managed a draw despite putting in a poor first half performance which seemed to follow from the difficult second half in midweek at Millwall.

Understandably changes were made but they seemed to have little or no impact in what was a pretty tepid first half from Preston who seemed to lack any attacking intent.

Iversen made three saves with two coming from efforts that were deflected. The keeper kept Preston in the game but Bournemouth did take the lead eventually before the break.

A long ball was played through and Storey failed to deal being outmuscled by Solanke. The forward had the simple task of squaring to Danjuma who tapped home from close range.

The only real intent from North End in the first half was when Barkhuizen broke down the right and whipped in a cross. Browne was at the back post but he couldn't put any power on his shot.

After the break Preston came out much brighter. Whiteman had an effort tipped over the bar and Evans should have done better when he was played in but fired over from inside the box.

The goal came when Bournemouth made a mistake. A stray pass ended up at the feet of Johnson who drove towards the edge of the box before curling a left footed shot past the keeper. He has not done this enough this season but it was a good finish.

Both teams then tried to go for a winner but in the end they had to settle for a point each. Preston will probably be the happier after a poor first half. The point cements Preston's position in midtable.
