Scoring Draw Earns Preston Top Spot For 24 Hours

Preston again dominated the first half pushing Coventry on the back foot but only had one goal to show for it after Dave Nugent managed to head a superb ball over the outstretched arms of the Coventry keeper.

The away side pushed forward in the second half and a goal was always coming. Coventry hit the post from a deflected shot and got an equaliser late on as Preston sat back.

As Coventry pushed forward Preston on several occassions had opportunities to finish the visitors on the break but Nugent and Whaley could not create a winning goal.

Dichio was clearly pulled down in the box late on but nothing was given although a winner would have bene some what of an injustice to Coventry.

Miller got his first start on the left of midfield and looked off the pace. Preston fans will also worry as St Ledger was replaced early on by Wilson but the Irishman looked to be ok returning to sit on the bench later in the first half.

Simpson will be disappointed with the way his side did not expose Coventry more with Agyemang looking erratic Preston just failed to put the game to bed which cost them. They cannot go on much longer relying on other sides to lose in order for Preston to top the table. Undoubtedly most sides go through a bad spell in a season so we can only hope this is Preston's blip whilst still picking up points.
