Jackson who also played at Blackpool spent several years at North End with the highlight being promotion to the Championship in 2000 followed by a trip to Cardiff a season later.
Jackson is currently on the playing staff at Shrewsbury under ex-boss Paul Simpson and is due to take on a coaching role with the Shrews.
